5-Day Itinerary for the Bolivar Peninsula
Day 1: Arrival and Beach Exploration
- Late Morning: Arrive in Bolivar Peninsula and head to one of our local grocery stores for food, beverages, or other supplies.
- Noon: Head to Swedes Real Estate and check into your vacation rental home. Explore your rental, unpack, and settle in.
- Afternoon: Spend the afternoon strolling along the sandy shores, soaking in the sunshine, splashing in the waves, collecting seashells, and enjoying the tranquil beach atmosphere.
- Evening: Enjoy a quiet dinner in your beautiful vacation rental, and watch the sunset over the Gulf of Mexico. Unwind with the sound of the waves.
Day 2: Nature and Wildlife
- Morning: Visit High Island on the Bolivar Peninsula. Explore the diverse ecosystems, and don’t forget your binoculars for birdwatching.
- Afternoon: Grab a slice of pizza for lunch at one of our favorite pizza places. This is an easy and delicious stop that will fill your belly and still leave time to enjoy the evening.
- Late Afternoon: Keep your outdoor adventures going with a trip to Fort Travis Seashore Park for a lesson in history and an early picnic dinner! If history isn’t your thing, then a round of putt-putt golf at The Gulf Range may be the perfect afternoon activity.
- Evening: Head back to your vacation home, take a short, and then head to the beach for a sunset walk.
Day 3: Adventure and Water Activities
- Morning: Rent a golf cart and explore Crystal Beach. If golf carts aren’t your speed, try your hand at a water sport. Rent kayaks or jet skis and explore the waterways.
- Afternoon: Enjoy a beachside lunch at one of the local seafood restaurants. You are halfway through your Cyrstal Beach itinerary, but there is still time for tons of fun.
- Late Afternoon: Take a scenic drive along Highway 87 to explore the coastal scenery and local landmarks. You can cruise around in your golf cart or your car. If your vehicle ends up at the water slides, everyone will understand!
- Evening: Plan to grill out at your gorgeous home away from home. Shrimp kebobs, corn on the cob, and sliced watermelon are the perfect beach lover’s dinner. If you have a sweet tooth, visit one of our local ice cream shops.
Day 4: Lighthouse Visit and Relaxation
- Morning: Head out on a fishing expedition. You can rent a boat, hire a fishing charter, or even fish from shore.
- Afternoon: Stop for an Instagramable moment at the Bolivar Point Lighthouse. Return to Crystal Beach for a relaxing afternoon, playing beach games, flying kites, or building sandcastles.
- Evening: Watch the sunset from the beach or your accommodation. Consider a seafood dinner at one of our favorite local restaurants and then an evening of live music.
Day 5: Departure & Explore Galveston
- Morning: Rise early on your final vacation morning to catch the sunrise. You won’t regret the alarm clock once you see the sky filled with vibrant colors. Then, enjoy a leisurely morning before heading home. Pack your belongings, load the car, and consider a final beach walk before checking out.
- Late Morning: Take the Bolivar Peninsula ferry to Galveston Island and explore a few local attractions before heading home. Moody Gardens Aquarium and the Historic Pleasure Pier are both great options.
- Afternoon: Finish your vacation with some shopping before the final leg of your journey home.
