Here is my complete review: We booked these two homes for a surprise 70th birthday party. We had 11 adult couples, which worked out perfectly, because no one had to share a room. That being said, there was plenty of room to house additional guests, but our goal was for everyone to have their own room, and space, to relax. The houses are beautifully done. Our guests all raved about how quiet it was in their rooms and that they couldn’t hear the other guests moving throughout the house. Having the walkway between houses made gathering a breeze. The kitchens are set up perfectly for gathering. We used one house as the “main” house for all of our meals, and each house has a double refrigerator/freezer, so there was plenty of storage space to hold food for 20+ people in one house alone. There are no ice makers, so we purchased extra bags of ice to store in one freezer which worked out well for us. The kitchens are well stocked with pots and pans, however, we brought our own cooking and serving utensils, and also utilized paper plates and plastic ware to make cleanup easier. Upon booking you will receive the house rules and the manual. These are very descriptive, and gave us all of the information we needed to be able to tell our guests what they needed to pack, such as toiletries and beach towels. However, The Big Store and Island Liquor are just across the road, so if you forget anything or need to restock, it’s very convenient. The beachfront location was perfect. We were able to easily access the beach, and it was just a quick walk back to the house if we needed anything while we were there. You can also drive on Crystal Beach, and park there, with a parking pass. This makes hauling coolers and chairs to the beach a piece of cake. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. There is plenty of parking. Prior to booking, the hosts were very communicative, and prompt in assisting with, and answering all questions. They were wonderful. We also called the local management group while there, and they were responsive as well. Overall, we had an amazing weekend and couldn’t have imagined a better space for our family and friends to gather for such a wonderful celebration. We will definitely book again.

Our stay was the highlight of the year! Amazing amount of space, direct access to the beach, and close to local grocery store. Much more private on this side of the ferry. 5 Stars!!!

Overall we had an amazing time. The property could have been cleaner e specifically down stairs but overall a great place and the service was great.

Wonderful house in an great location!

Pros: fit 15 comfortably, beautiful view, bar area downstairs with toilet, a little back off the sand so not too much noise. Cons: the four bedrooms upstairs (not bunks) are conjoined so they are not completely private, no sink downstairs for use with toilet and bar. Kitchen lacked serving platters, had only 4 wine glasses, and small trash receptacle in kitchen (8-9 gallon). Had to take out trash every meal and set out trash bags down stairs. Also there was no door/gate separating the two homes. This was concerning for small kids/pets, but fortunately no one was there most of our time.

I set up a fishing trip for our clients. Some flew into Texas from around the country. Everyone was impressed and really enjoyed the accommodations. We rented both homes so we had plenty of elbow room even bringing in a local Chef to prepare our meals down below. It was a fantastic spot to bring in clients. My only issue was having to put the sheets on the bed. Given how many beds there are in this rental, we would have happily paid more for that service to be added to our reservation. It was quite taxing as I didn't want our clients to have to do that...

Overall, our experience was great! Plenty of room for family and a great location for a wedding. At first glance, the house is bright and new, but the more you stay in there, it could use some maintenance and updating, especially for the rental price you are charged. Management company was quick to answer phones and the maintenance man was on site in a short amount of time and was super nice! Feedback for rental company — Not saying the house is not nice bc it def is, but the houses could use some work for the cost to rent them. For those looking to rent — we would recommend this cabin!

I have rented MANY houses, and even several beach houses… and Pirate’s Cove is, by far, the best place I have ever rented. EVERYTHING is perfect about this place. It’s WAY better than it looks in the pictures. Like, the pictures don’t even begin to do it justice. If you’re hesitating even for a moment about booking this place— I’m here to tell you it will be the best weekend of your life, guaranteed. This home served as the best weekend of my entire life. Here’s why: I booked this place during COVID for a small wedding. The pandemic seemed to make EVERYTHING go wrong while planning this wedding. But not this house. This house is the ONLY thing I could count on for months and months. Any time I had a question, they answered within minutes, sometimes seconds, for months on end. And I imagine I was some what of a worrisome bride with a lot of specific questions. They were so so nice. Then I arrived. And OH MAN… this place is insane. It’s HUGE and it’s very very clean. The decorations are all perfectly on-brand and aren’t too cluttered or trashy. Everything looks very elegant and sophisticated. The kitchen is the first thing you see. We had 25 people all fitting comfortably for dinner. There are plenty of tools for cooking! It’s spotless. It’s enormous. Then you get to the master bedroom… WOW!!! The shower is the stand-out in this room. My new husband and I really liked that part! LOL! Upstairs you have a large living room, a patio, and 4 different bedrooms. Then two of THOSE bedrooms have other bedrooms off of those. All of the beds were comfy comfy comfy. I was really worried about space and privacy before arriving. As you can imagine, 25 people in one house can seem like a tight fit. We had EXTRA space and nobody was cramped. One family was worried about COVID and was even able to be socially distanced the whole weekend. In one house?! Craziness. It was perfect. On top of it being this many people… my family is white and my husband’s family doesn’t speak English. This could have been uncomfortable in one house, especially if there was no privacy. But ALL of the rooms, even the side rooms, had doors. All beds were big and each had their own light. Privacy and awkwardness were not a problem the whole weekend. The linens were delivered right on time, and they were all clean. The chair/table rental company suggested by the house owner was very reliable, and set up the entire wedding for us. Once the guests arrived for the outdoor wedding on the ground floor, they all wanted to “go upstairs and check out the rooms” because everyone was talking about how nice it was inside. But even the outside is nice! The ground floor is MUCH more spacious than it appears in pictures. The bar downstairs is super nice, and there were toilets so people didn’t have to go inside. All of my vendors had PLENTY of space to work. It was way bigger than I thought. The parking lot behind the house fit ALL my 60 guests plus vendors. We had people in our group who had never been to the ocean before, and seeing them walk the short walk from the house to the sand… and seeing the look on their faces was the best part for me. It was a beautiful moment. My new father-in-law, who usually keeps to himself, loved the very top patio because he could be alone, but look out on the wedding and the beach views. Something for all! Nobody complained about the temperature, the space, the privacy, the amenities, nothing! Some people stayed up til 5 am, and didn’t disturb the early sleepers. And the early risers didn’t disturb the late sleepers. Sound doesn’t travel here. It was super quiet. All 25 of my guests were PERFECTLY happy, which is tough to accomplish. EVERYONE was happy and didn’t have one single complaint. The guy who owns the house is GREAT. He let us check in early, and check out late. Because we had some WILD circumstances before and after. He was super understanding. Then some of my relatives took the keys to my dad’s rental car back to Dallas with them. So we got stranded at this beach house when we should have checked out 2 hours before. The owner offered us the house for an extra night at a VERY reasonable rate, and my husband and I got to stay put while we figured out the key debacle. He was so understanding, responsive and kind the whole time. I will NEVER forget this weekend My wedding weekend went off without one single hitch, and this house provided the bones and location for the most memorable, most perfect, most beautiful… weekend of my entire life.
