thinking about renting this house. is this in the "zoo" area? renting during the week, wondering how private this is and can you fires on the beach?

Just back from a great weekend. Loved the house. Locations is great. Layout worked well for multiple families. will plan to rent it again!

I stayed here for a week in May 2008. The walk through the backyard to the beach is very, very short! This is truly my idea of beachfront. The house had an enclosed garage, which turned out to be very handy with lockable storage, a BBq pit that was shielded from the elements when not in use, etc. There is also a very private outdoor shower enclosure for coming off of the beach. I loved the planked wood walkway from the carport to the beach - it was fantastic. Great lighting on the carport and good water hoses. The picnic table on the carport was a plus. Tons of stickers in the yard.

The house itself: the bedrooms upstairs (2) were huge with great closets. The upstairs bathrooms were really nice too. There is a really nice little balcony upstairs that you can get to from either bedroom. Upstairs was decorated very nicely, and felt more like a hotel than a beach house! The first couple of days were extremely windy, and there was a non-stop whistle in the upstairs bedroom windows that we could not stop.

Downstairs is not quite so roomy. The living area could not possibly accomodate all of the people who can sleep in the oouse. The furniture is not terribly comfortable. When you are sunburned and tired, wicker furntiture just isn't what you want to lounge on. The kitchen was okay, but not stocked as well as most other houses I've rented on Crystal Beach. The bar stools on the breakfast bar were not really functional either - wicker again, and not even remotely comfortable.

The laundry was a closet off of the living room, and was great! The downstairs bedroom and bath were okay. We were glad the bedroom was there so we could pull a mattress into the living room for more seating.

Everything worked fine, and the AC was more than fine. As usual in a beach house, the mattresses were not great, but I would have been surprised if they were.

The front porch balcony is not large, and come to find out that's where we spent a lot of time, so next rental I would choose a house with a balcony we could all spread out on. it was nice that there was an electrical outlet on the balcony though, for our music. Ine evenings we would see dolphins playing in the surf.

This is a very busy part of the beach, and weekends are pretty much wall-to-wall people, but with good police presence both night and day.
